Labor Day Monday tells us that tomorrow the kiddies will be going back to school but not me. Retirement is so lovely. No daybooks, no preparation, no late night work, no meetings with parents, no meetings with the principal, no tests to make, no report cards and especially no more disrepect from some children. What I miss is the enjoyment with the many children that cared so much about me, MR. P. When I went golfing last week, when I arrived at the golf course there were two young men that I didn't recognize but they recognized me. They both said to me, Hi MR. P. After giving me their names, I then realized who they were and their names. I had taught them many years ago. Their smiles when they saw me made my day. I've been seeing many of my past students and one thing that makes me smile ( and have tears in my eyes ) is the fact the respect they have for me even after all of those years. When I left teaching, my only thought was " did I make a change on the lives of my students " ? Seeing these young man and what they said about me in front of others made me realized that I did make a change. That's why I still miss these young people.

Kid to a pregnant girl at bus stop: "What are you expecting?" The girl says, "A bus." The kid turns to his friend and says: "Wow! I am 100% sure this chick got screwed by a Transformer!"
A doctor has come to see one of his patients in a hospital. The patient has had major surgery to both of his hands. "Doctor," says the man excitedly and dramatically holds up his heavily bandaged hands. "Will I be able to play the piano when these bandages come off?" "I don’t see why not," replies the doctor. "That’s funny," says the man. "I wasn’t able to play it before."
What is the difference between pressure, anxiety and panic attacks? You have pressure when your wife is pregnant. You are anxious when your girlfriend is pregnant. You have panic attacks when both of them are pregnant!

That's it for now. I hope that you all enjoy your Labor Day. Have fun.
SEE YA.
So nice to see your post, Paul! Here in Montreal, the children have already returned to school. Back in the day when I was a child, we returned to school after Labour Day...not anymore. Now they return to school at the end of August. I find it strange, but then again, thankfully my school days are long over. It is due to be an extremely hot and humid week here, I am gearing up for it. What makes it more difficult is that the central air conditioning is not working at this time but hopefully will be fixed by tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeleteThat was a nice post Paul getting respect off your ex pupils just shows what a good teacher you was :-)
ReplyDeleteThose jokes made me laugh and the cat's quote.

Hi Paul, looks like you have done a great job and has touched many students' lives. Happy golfing! We are having very bad haze over here and advised to stay indoors.
